Omaha
Though it wasn’t part of the original plan we ended up really liking Omaha.
Daniel started his new job this week, so we had to spend much of our time indoors on this leg of the trip, but we stayed in a cute Airbnb that had a comfy couch (which has been surprisingly rare on this trip) and a ping pong table, so we were happy to do so.
We spent a lot of our time during the evenings getting really good at ping pong in the basement. Ellie has been complaining about the lack of ping pong tables at every place we’ve stayed since.
Ellie also arranged for a couple fun activities for us to do on two of the other evenings. The first was a “smash house” where you got to go break a bunch of stuff by throwing it against the wall. It was short-lived but fun!
The second was an adults only night at the zoo, which we loved. Zoos are a perfect form of entertainment. Lots of walking and lots of interesting stuff to see. We particularly enjoyed seeing the gorillas, the sharks, and a couple of girls with British accents. As soon as Ellie heard the accents she called them out as fake, her evidence being that “no foreigner would ever choose to visit Omaha”. Turns out she was right! They were from Louisiana and simply enjoyed putting on a fake accent.
The final thing worth noting is that Winnie hated Omaha due to the frequent thunderstorms. She gets scared by someone coughing too loud, so thunder is a big no-go.
- How much we’d like to visit again: 2/10. We didn’t dislike Omaha, but no need to see it again.
- How much we’d like to live here: 3/10. There were some nice areas, but it wasn’t quite interesting enough or near enough to anything that we’d really want to live here.
